Scorpions
While scorpions are commonly associated with life in the desert they are
in fact found in many different habitats including, grasslands, savannahs,
forests and caves. These nocturnal arachnids use venom to kill or paralyze
their prey so it might be eaten. The venom contained in most scorpions
is relatively harmless to humans; stings from these scorpions produce local
effects (e.g. pain, numbness, or swelling). There are, however, a few
types of scorpion can be dangerous to humans. Unless under the threat
of attack scorpions will not make use of their stinger for any other reason
than to capture prey.
Remove Scorpions with Heat®
Scorpions are a nuisance and dangerous if found inside your home. Because scorpions are nocturnal they are active when occupants are most likely asleep. This can make them dangerous to residents whom are prone to late night wandering.
Heat is an effective method for removing scorpions from your structure. Scorpions are ectothermic creatures, meaning they control their body temperature through their external environment. As the temperature of the external environment rises, so too will the scorpion’s internal body temperature. In order to survive the scorpion will leave heated structure.
Kill Scorpions with Heat®
The remaining scorpions in the heated structure will eventually be killed. As their body temperatures increase, their metabolic processes begin to malfunction and they eventually die.
Combining the heat process with the use of thermal imaging cameras to find where heat is escaping from the structure and where the scorpions may be entering. Once the possible points of entry are identified, we can seal them up to prevent future invasion.
